Book Launch

Aminah Hassan enjoyed a happy and carefree adolescence. She neglected her studies an evantually failed her SPM examinations. Her wicked step mother then forced her into an arranged marriage to a widower with nine children for whome she bore two children.
On the starlit night of the 6th of Feb 2002, she was arrested along with her husband and three others who were all present at the scene where a delivery of 10.331 grams of cannabis was about to take place. Her husband had negotiated the sale days earlier with a police under cover agent at the Ampang Food Court where she was also present in body only- not in mind. After 14 days, in a police lock up she was released. She rushed home and was shocked to find it in complete disarray - her children missing. Her darkest fear was that her children were kidnapped, violated and abandoned in the thick jungle to be eaten by wild tigers as a reprisal for snitching.

In September 2003, her husband had died in prison while awaiting trial. In a cruel twist of fate, she was rearrested and charged in place of her husband, presumably to supply the link in the chain of 'common intention'. By order of court, her children were admitted into an orphanage.

In this engaging book, the author narrates the sufferings and tears of Aminah throughout her incarcration. He also discusses the interesting feaures of a drug trafficking trial which together make compelling reading for students, lawyers and laymen who may be contemplating a dabble in the drug trade.

THE OFFENCE OF TRAFFICKING IN DANGEROUS DRUGS IS PUNISHABLE IN MALAYSIA WITH THE MANDATORY DEATH SENTENCE.
